Tropical Shipping, the US-based transportation and logistics company, has reaffirmed its commitment to community development in Guyana with a generous donation to the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central (RCGC).
The contribution is earmarked to support youth and educational projects across the country, furthering the company’s long-standing community relations programme.
The donation was formally handed over at Tropical Shipping’s Georgetown office by Country Manager Glenis Hodge, who stressed the importance of sustainable investment in the region.
“Tropical Shipping views community engagement as an essential part of our mission,” Hodge said. “Our community relations program provides continued support for the countries and islands where we serve, contributing to sustainability, growth, and development.”
Hodge further noted the company’s focus on nurturing future talent: “Our donation today demonstrates that our commitment to youth development in a rapidly growing Guyana. We hope this contribution helps more young people benefit from educational and developmental activities, opening doors of opportunities and supporting Guyana’s continued progress.”
The RCGC confirmed that funding would be crucial to maintaining its ongoing initiatives focused on education and literacy within Guyanese communities.
Lloyd David, president of the Rotary Club, expressed his appreciation, noting the three-year duration of the funding relationship.
“The Rotary Club of Georgetown Central is extremely grateful to Tropical Shipping for the funding provided over the last three years,” David stated.
“These funds have enabled the Club to deliver on its annual projects, particularly those related to education and literacy in Guyana.”
Tropical Shipping has operated in Guyana for over 30 years and globally for more than six decades.
