The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has recorded an impressive 61.7 percent clear-up rate for crimes in 2025, reflecting the force’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-led policing.
For the year 2025, the force has recorded a 25.2 percent reduction in serious crimes.
Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken made the announcement while speaking at the GPF’s annual Christmas Awards Ceremony on Friday.
The ceremony recognized officers from all 12 policing divisions for their outstanding work throughout the year.
Hicken hailed the record clear-up rate as “all-time hard work” and a reflection of the force’s transformation, calling on all ranks to maintain integrity, professionalism, and dedication as they continue serving the public.
The Top Cop credited the success to strengthened real-time intelligence capabilities, which he said have allowed officers to respond swiftly to emerging threats.
Additionally, he said five new command centers were established nationwide, with Regions 3 and 6 fully operational, and Regions 5, 8, and 10 expected to be online soon.
And 120 new vehicles and vessels were procured to ensure faster and more reliable responses across the country.
Emphasising the force’s zero-tolerance approach to misconduct, Hicken said that, for the year 2025, 20 ranks were charged and placed before the court.
