Georgetown Mayor Alfred Mentore on Monday said that the opening hours for the city markets will be revised to allow for Christmas shopping.
During a Georgetown Mayor and City Council meeting, the Mayor said the revised hours will be from 7:00hrs until 19:00hrs from December 10 to December 23. On Christmas Eve (December 24), the markets will be open from 7:00hrs until 20:00hrs.
The mayor said these changes would allow for vendors to be able to increase sales during the season. It will also give the shoppers sufficient time to make purchases as the busy season continues.
Additionally, the Council will hire more persons to conduct cleaning once the markets close at the respective times.
Mentore said these efforts will ensure the smooth flow of the markets during the busiest season of the year.
