Gold miner, 42, stabbed to death 

Michael John Benn, a gold miner of Charity, Essequibo Coast, died on Sunday after he was stabbed during an altercation at Aranguy Landing, Cuyuni River.

Police, in a statement, said the fatal incident unfolded at about 02:00 hrs Sunday. It was reported that Benn was at a liquor shop in the area when he became involved in an altercation with two males, during which he sustained stab injuries to his chest.

One suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspect.

Meanwhile, the man’s body is presently stored at the Aranka Police Station, awaiting transportation to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is to be conducted.

Investigations are continuing.
