Lackandai Tamessar, an 89-year-old resident of Ogle, East Coast Demerara, was found dead with stab wounds about her body, and her husband, an 88-year-old man, is in custody assisting with investigations.
According to a Police report, the alleged homicide was believed to have occurred between Friday, December 26, 2025, about 16:00 hrs, and Tuesday, December 30, 2025, about 13:00 hrs at the woman’s Ogle address.
Police said Tamessar was last seen alive on December 26, 2025, by a relative who visited her. However, on December 30, 2025, the same relative returned and discovered her lying motionless with what appeared to be stab wounds about her body.
The woman’s body was taken to the Plaisance Health Center, and she was then pronounced dead. The body was later taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the woman’s husband, who was present at the location at the time, was arrested and placed in custody, assisting with the investigation.
Investigations are ongoing.
