Archery Guyana concluded its 2025 competitive season with a national ranking event at the Everest Cricket Club Grounds on Wednesday, as the federation seeks to formalise its athlete development pathway.
The tournament, held on Dec. 31, served as a critical fixture for athletes to accrue ranking points and benchmark their technical progression against international standards.
Jeewanram Persaud secured gold in the Recurve Men’s division, fending off challenges from silver medalist Lucas Chung and bronze medalist Trevaughn Waldron. In the Recurve Women’s category, Karin Onica Toppin took the top spot over Roshini Boodhoo.
In the Barebow categories, Mehandra Chatargum and Melesa Ramnaraine claimed gold in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Youth categories saw gold medal performances from Saifullah Gani (U18 Recurve Men) and Fatima Gani (U18 Barebow Women).
“The competition served as a reminder that success in archery is built on patience and dedication to the process,” Archery Guyana President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon said during the presentation ceremony.
The event was officiated by a panel of certified judges, led by Robert Singh, Chairperson of Judges, and Umasankar Madray, Director of Shooting, to ensure adherence to international competition protocols.
The federation cited ongoing institutional support from Guyana’s Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, the National Sports Commission, and the Guyana Olympic Association as key factors in the sport’s regional development.
