Police are investigating the death of Márcio Rocha, a 46-year-old Brazilian national and miner, who died sometime on Monday at the Seemang Backdam, Middle Mazaruni, Region Seven (Cuyuni- Mazaruni).
According to a Police report, Rocha reportedly suffered from a medical condition and was last seen alive at about 06:00 hrs at a mining camp in the area. About 12:00 hrs, his lifeless body was discovered lying in a hammock at the camp, and the matter was reported to the police.
The scene was visited, and the body was examined; however, no marks of violence were observed.
The body was escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital and pronounced dead. A post-mortem will be conducted, and investigations are ongoing.
