Local media reports 23 Venezuelan and 32 Cuban soldiers died when US elite troops stormed Maduro’s compound on Saturday.
The Cuban Communist Party’s official newspaper, Granma, has also shared details of the soldiers it lost in the operation in a post titled “Honour and Glory” – adding that they were killed “in combat action and after fierce resistance”.
In Caracas, armed police are seen patrolling the streets, in an image shared by Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello.
And in a video shared online, the security forces are filmed shouting “loyal always, traitors never”.
