Michael Raymond Haralall Tamassar, the 88-year-old pensioner who was discovered dead on Tuesday, died from heart failure. Tamassar was a suspect in the investigation into his wife’s death.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary by government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.
According to a Police release, Tamassar died sometime between 07:00 and 09:38 hours on Tuesday at Bladen Hall School Compound Living Quarters, East Coast Demerara. He was last seen alive at about 07:00hrs by his son, with whom he was residing. The man’s body was examined by detectives for marks of violence, but none were seen on the exposed parts. He was then escorted to the Buxton Health Centre and was pronounced dead.
On December 31, Michael’s wife, Lackandai Tamassar, was found dead with stab wounds to her body. Michael, who was present at the location at the time, was arrested and placed in custody.
