Farmer arrested for possession of narcotics

Police are investigating the discovery of 97 grammes of suspected cannabis discovered at the home of a farmer at Timehri North, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

In a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) it was revealed that at approximately 17:30 hours on Friday, officers acted on information received and proceeded to the location where a search of the house ended empty handed.

However, a subsequent search was conducted in the yard in the presence of the suspect and a black plastic bag was discovered on the western fence line containing twenty-three (23) red transparent plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems, ​along with ten (10) transparent zip-lock bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems, all suspected to be cannabis.

The Farmer was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Timehri Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to Ninety-Seven (97) grams. ​The suspected narcotics were then marked, sealed and lodged.
