Two teens among six arrested after firearm, ammo found in Linden operation

Two teenagers are among six persons arrested as police investigate the discovery of a firearm and ammunition during a late-night operation in Linden on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out between 19:00h and 23:30h on January 20, 2026, at Three Miles, Wisroc, following intelligence linked to a video circulating on social media involving wanted man Jamal Bourne, also known as “Skinny”.

Acting on the information received, ranks from Regional Divisions Three and Ten proceeded to the area, where they conducted a search of a wooden structure hidden within dense vegetation. During the search, police found a black and silver Taurus pistol with its serial number filed off, concealed under a mattress, along with six live .32 rounds of ammunition.

Further searches in the vicinity led to the discovery of a heap of burnt material near the structure. As a result, forensic experts were deployed to the location to conduct additional examinations and determine the origin and nature of the material.

Six persons who were present at the location at the time of the operation were arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged as exhibits.

Those arrested include an 18-year-old male farmer of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke–Linden Highway; an 18-year-old female of Bell West Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara; a 20-year-old male labourer of Beaver Street, North Ruimveldt; a 20-year-old male of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara; a 21-year-old female of Samatta Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara; and a 26-year-old male farmer of Church Street, Georgetown.

The six remain in police custody as investigations continue. The Guyana Police Force said further information will be provided as the probe progresses.
