Police are urging the victim of an assault captured on video at La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara, to come forward as investigations continue into the incident.
In a statement, Police Headquarters said ranks are probing an altercation that occurred at about 14:00 hrs on Saturday, January 25, 2026, at the park at La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara.
The incident came to light after a video showing three males assaulting another man began circulating on social media.
A further review of additional footage reportedly showed a motor car, bearing registration number PGG 6502, being used to remove the individuals from the scene after the attack.
Acting on information received, police traced the vehicle to Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, where the driver – a 17-year-old of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo – was contacted.
He later assisted investigators in locating two other suspects: an 18-year-old, also from Zeelugt, and a 16-year-old from Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara.
The three suspects were arrested and taken to the Leonora Police Station, along with the vehicle. They remain in police custody as investigations continue.
However, News Room was informed that no formal report has been made by the victim.
Investigators are therefore appealing to the victim, or anyone with information related to the matter, to contact the nearest police station.
The victim’s cooperation, News Room was told, is vital in advancing the investigation and ensuring that appropriate legal action can be taken.
