The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) has announced its Under-16 Inter-Association 50-over Tournament will get underway on January 31.
The competition, which had been delayed by a prolonged rainy season in the region, is widely regarded as the first significant litmus test for the county’s emerging talent in the 2026 season.
Five teams—Georgetown (GCA), West Demerara (WDCA), East Coast (ECCB), East Bank (EBCA), and a DCB Select XI—will compete in a round-robin format across two venues: the Lusignan Ground and the LBI Ground.
This U16 tournament serves as a vital transition point, allowing selectors to assess the technical temperament of players moving from the U13/U15 levels into the more physically demanding U17 and U19 brackets.
The DCB informed that the full list of players would be announced shortly
