Access to early childhood education at Region Six was enhanced on Wednesday as the Mibikuri Nursery School was commissioned by Education Minister Sonia Parag.
This school will accommodate 48 children, bringing fundamental knowledge and skills into rural Mibikuri, Black Bush Polder, and neighboring communities.

Minister Parag said education is the foundation and core of nation-building.
“Education is the foundation and the core of national development in any country.
“Education is one of the things that focus is placed on to ensure that our human capital develops,” the minister said.

This school adds to over 100 schools built in Guyana since 2020. Another 40 additional schools are set for completion under the 2026 budget. And Minister Parag told the children and adults gathered there that the government supports their development.
“We need people to be kind, to be considerate and compassionate…You are ensuring that your country, your people, your community, your schools, your villages, are going to move towards prosperity,” Minister Parag emphasised.
