With support from Sterling Products Limited and the Beharry Group, the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) is expanding market access for local manufacturers through its digital marketplace.
GMSA President Rafeek Khan said the Association strengthened its e-commerce offerings with the launch of the Uncapped Marketplace portal in December 2025. The platform facilitates the online purchase and delivery of locally manufactured products.
Khan said the response to the initiative has been positive, with more than 100 members participating and 40 vendors currently registered on the platform.
“Consumers can connect directly with manufacturers, place orders, and messages are sent to the suppliers,” Khan said.
The initiative primarily supports small and medium-sized manufacturers. The Association reported strong momentum in 2025, recording approximately 20 per cent growth in membership.
Although the Uncapped initiative has been in development for several years, Khan said the current portal builds on nearly six years of work aimed at supporting key GMSA sub-sectors, particularly agro-processing. He noted that the platform has been especially beneficial for small businesses that cannot afford shelf space in supermarkets.
Sterling Products Limited and the Beharry Group have supported the initiative by providing distribution centres to receive products and facilitate delivery to consumers through the portal.
“This helped our smaller businesses who could not afford supermarket shelf space. With the GMSA umbrella, they are able to access a larger market,” Khan said.
Khan said the GMSA will continue to leverage technology to improve access to locally produced goods while creating a more efficient purchasing experience for consumers.
“By maximising the use of technology, the GMSA is enabling consumers to purchase products online while delivery is supported through the sponsorship of some of our larger companies,” he said.
As partnerships continue to expand, Khan said the Association will continue to use innovation and technology to create opportunities for local businesses and strengthen Guyana’s manufacturing sector.
