Guyanese man remanded pending extradition to the U.S. for fraud charges

Guyanese national, Ronley Floyd Bynoe, appeared on Thursday before acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody pending his extradition to the United States.

The court heard that on September 20, 2023, an indictment was filed against Bynoe in Ohio, for misuse of a Social Security number, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.

During Thursday’s proceedings, the magistrate asked Bynoe whether he had legal representation or intended to seek a lawyer. He responded in the negative.

When asked if he wished to challenge the extradition request, Bynoe also declined.

Bynoe also confirmed he understood that by not contesting the request, he would be returned to the U.S to face the charges.

Following his responses, Bynoe was committed to custody pending extradition to the United States.
