Police in Region Three have launched an investigation into the murder of a 29-year-old labourer whose body was discovered early Monday morning at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

Dead is Herbert Hartman, of Tuschen New Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.

According to police reports, the incident is believed to have occurred between 20:30 hrs on Sunday and 06:00 hrs on Monday.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Hartman and the suspect, a 23-year-old construction worker of Tuschen Housing Scheme, were known to each other.

Enquiries revealed that the two men were earlier at a worksite in the area where they were allegedly consuming alcohol when an argument reportedly broke out. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly threatened Hartman before leaving the location.

He was subsequently escorted to the DeKinderen Regional Hospital, where he was examined and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

The body was later transported to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
