COP T20 Cup: Headquarters and GPF Officers set for final rematch

Defending champions Headquarters and perennial rivals Guyana Police Force Officers have steamrolled their way through the Super Four stage to set up a mouth-watering repeat of last year’s Commissioner of Police T20 Cup final.

The two giants of the tournament remain the only unbeaten sides, perched atop the standings with perfect records.

Headquarters currently holds the edge in the table with a staggering Net Run Rate (NRR) of +6.000, closely pursued by the Officers at +3.175.

Meanwhile, Region Three and Region Six, both winless in the Super 4s, are relegated to the third-place play-off.

Barnwell’s ‘Hurricane’ 139*

In a display of pure batting carnage at the Police Ground, Christopher Barnwell rewrote the record books with a breathtaking 139* off just 36 deliveries.

The GPF Officers’ talisman struck 18 sixes—essentially a maximum every second ball—propelling his side to a massive 233-5.

Region Sixes’ chase never grew wings. Despite a defiant 70 from the experienced Assad Fudadin, the asking rate proved a mountain too high.

Stephen Harris (2-7) and Michael Newland (2-25) applied the squeeze as the Officers cruised to a 93-run victory to punch their ticket to the finale.

Kanhaiya Ramkarran was the protagonist, falling agonisingly short of a century with an unbeaten 97 off 40 balls. His innings, laced with 11 sixes, anchored a daunting total of 254-4

Ramkarran, Matheson Power Headquarters to Fourth Straight Final

Not to be outdone, Headquarters sent a chilling message to their upcoming opponents by dismantling Region Three by 101 runs.

Kanhaiya Ramkarran was the protagonist, falling agonisingly short of a century with an unbeaten 97 off 40 balls. His innings, laced with 11 sixes, anchored a daunting total of 254-4. Dwain Dick (47) and Kyle Michael (26) provided the late-innings fireworks.

The defence was equally clinical. Osafa Matheson produced a freakish spell, claiming 3 wickets for just 3 runs in a single over to break the back of the Region Three chase.

Ramkarran capped off a Man of the Match performance with 2 -24, ensuring Headquarters reached their fourth consecutive final in style.
