The engines roared back to life for the MPS Karting Revival event this past weekend, but the crowd quickly realised they were witnessing a masterclass rather than a mere comeback.
In a display of pure mechanical harmony and driver instinct, Luis Kumar pulled off a flawless “clean sweep” in the Honda GX 200 Light class.
Driving the eye-catching Boost High Octane 619 kart, Kumar signalled his intentions early during the qualifying sessions. Blistering through the sectors, he claimed pole position, setting the stage for what would become a clinical afternoon.
The dominance continued into the Pre-Final, where Kumar expertly managed the field from the front, taking the chequered flag in first place and securing his spot at the head of the grid for the main event.
If the morning was about speed, the Final was about endurance and precision. Over the course of 22 laps, Kumar turned the race into a solo exhibition. While his rivals scrapped for position in his wake, Kumar remained untouchable, extending his lead with every rotation of the circuit.
By the time he crossed the finish line to a waving chequered flag, the gap back to second place was a staggering nine seconds. It was a margin rarely seen in a class known for its tight, bumper-to-bumper finishes—the karting equivalent of a grand slam.
‘A long time coming’
For Kumar, the victory was more than just a trophy; it was the culmination of months of hard work and close calls.
“This was a long time coming,” a beaming Kumar said during the post-race celebrations. “The kart felt incredible, and everything just clicked today.”
Kumar was quick to shift the spotlight onto his support system, acknowledging that a win of this magnitude is a team effort. He extended special gratitude to his preparation crew—Vishal, Dave, Shazad, and Chrissy—whose technical expertise ensured the #619 machine was the class of the field. (PRESS RELEASE)
