Golden Grove man found dead at Nabaclis

The body of 45-year-old Dwayne Roberson, a resident of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara, was found in a partially decomposed state at the Nabaclis sea dam, ECD, on Tuesday.

Roberson, also called ‘El Paso’, resided with his parents and siblings. A release from the Guyana Police Force reported that family members said the man was an alcoholic and habitually stayed away from home for prolonged periods.

On Sunday, at about 09:00 hrs, he was reportedly seen at a shop in Nabaclis, consuming alcohol. He became intoxicated and subsequently fell, hitting his head on a concrete floor. He did not seek medical attention but returned home.

Later, at about 18:00 hrs on the same date, while at home, Roberson reportedly became delirious, running about and shouting that the police were trying to kill him. Family members attempted to calm him, but by 23:00 hours, they lost track of him.

On Monday, at about 21:00 hrs, the man’s 68-year-old father, William Roberson, filed a Missing Persons report for him at the Cove and John Police Station. The family continued to make checks for him.

On Tuesday, at about 06:30 hrs, Roberson’s sister, Tameica Glasgow, was informed by villagers that her brother had been located motionless in a trench. A report was subsequently made at Cove and John Police Station.

Police said ranks found the Roberson’s body lying face up in a trench. The body was subsequently taken out of the trench and examined for marks of violence, but no visible injuries were observed.

The body was pronounced dead by a doctor at the Enmore Regional Hospital, then escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for storage, pending a Post-Mortem Examination.

An investigation is ongoing.
