Jose Alberto Quinonez Sanguino, a Venezuelan man, was chopped on his left thigh during a bar fight at Best Village, West Coast Demerara, has succumbed to his injuries.
Police Headquarters reported that Sanguino was injured after the fight unfolded on Saturday. However, a post-mortem examination report was later issued.
It was noted that post-mortem examination with dissection was performed on Sanguino’s body at the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour located at Best Village, West Coast Demerara, by Government Pathologist Doctor Nehaul Singh. Upon completion of the examination, the cause of death was determined to be “hemorrhage and shock due to stab wound to the thigh.”
Police Headquarters had reported that Alianda Martin, a 20-year-old Venezuelan, and her husband, Osmel Figuera, were drinking at the bar with other family members when an argument ensued. Several other male Venezuelan nationals began fighting, and one of them was armed with a cutlass, dealt one chop to Sanguino, who was at the bar too.
He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Several people were questioned but Police said no useful information was received due to the language barrier. Checks were made for the suspect, but he was not contacted or seen in the area.
