Two officers were transferred as the Guyana Police Force continues a further investigation into a bribery and extortion allegation at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri.
According to the allegations, the two officers attached to the Force’s Narcotics Branch at the Airport, accepted money from a female passenger in exchange for allowing her to travel with frozen food.
According to reports, the incident occurred on September 27, 2025, and involved an inspector and a junior rank.
The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) conducted an initial investigation into the complaint and subsequently prepared a file, which was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The DPP has since provided advice on the matter, and additional investigations are now being carried out. Both officers have been transferred from the CJIA to the Tactical Services Unit pending the outcome of the ongoing probe.
