Malteenoes Sports Club and Bel Air Rubis emerged victorious last weekend when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) continued its Georgetown City Mayor and Friends Under-17, 100-over competition.
At the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) on Sunday, the home suffered a narrow one-wicket defeat at the hands of Malteenoes, while the day before Bel Air Rubis emerged with a 66-run win over Malteenoes.
The other game on the weekend was a no-result between home side GCC and Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), with rain curtailing the contest.
Aruna Gainda struck the highest individual score of the weekend- a solid 69 and then picked up two wickets- for Bel Air Rubis, while opener Nathaniel Ramkhelwan made 57 in Malteenoes’ win over GCC.
Demerara Under-17 wicketkeeper/batsman Nathan Bishop was unbeaten on 48 for DCC against GCC when rain brought a premature end to the game, while Omarian Cummings struck a top score of 43 for GCC against Malteenoes.
On the bowling side, off-spin pair Joshua Budhram and Deshawn Ramnauth picked up 5-42 and 4-35 respectively for Malteenoes against GCC. In the same game, national Under-15 player Shahid Ramzan picked up 3-7 and made 25 in a losing cause for GCC.
