Set a seemingly straightforward 163 for victory on a two-paced surface at the No. 69 Ground, Upper Corentyne, Demerara’s chase turned into a high-pressure examination.
Berbice’s spinners, led by the experienced Veerasammy Permaul and the young Junior Sinclair, made life exceptionally difficult and exploited the conditions perfectly.
Demerara quickly slumped to 103 for 7, losing Tevin Imlach (15), Ushardeva Balgobin (15), and Matthew Nandu (13) without converting their starts.
At a critical juncture, with the final spot hanging in the balance, West Indies Academy player Dindyal demonstrated maturity beyond his years.
His 88-ball anchor innings was marked by calculated defense and excellent running, keeping the required rate manageable.
The fundamental momentum shift came when Jonathan Van Lange arrived at the crease. He adopted a change in tempo, hitting a run-a-ball 32 not out (37 balls), injecting much-needed urgency into the chase.
The partnership between Dindyal and Van Lange added a vital 63 runs off 62 balls for the eighth wicket, successfully navigating the remaining target and sealing the three-wicket win with four overs to spare.
Earlier in the day, Berbice were bowled out for 162 in 47.4 overs. Opener Zeynul Ramsammy scored 39, while Clinton Pestano contributed a brisk 29.
Demerara’s success was built on the back of off-spinner Richie Looknauth, who claimed the key wicket of Shimron Hetmyer and finished with an impressive 4 for 31 from his ten overs.
He received solid support from left-arm spinners Ashmead Nedd (2-23) and Chanderpaul Ramraj (2-20).
The Queensway Super50 is a crucial staging ground for players aiming to make the upcoming Guyana Harpy Eagles squad for the regional CG United Super50 Cup.
The regional tournament, set to take place in Trinidad and Tobago from November 19-29, has been restructured this year due to financial and scheduling challenges, moving to an abbreviated round-robin format that excludes the West Indies Academy and Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) outfits.
Guyana has not won the Regional Super50 since 2005.
