Lall on pole for GP4; Vieira sizzles in Porsche GT3; Linfoot fastest on bikes

Guyanese Mark Vieira delivered a sizzling run in his newly acquired Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, but it was Group Four driver Quinlan Lall who was fastest on four wheels at Saturday’s qualifying for the Caribbean Clash of Champions at South Dakota Circuit.

British rider Dan Linfoot, who holds the current track record at the venue, clocked the fastest time of the day, setting the stage for an exhilarating day of racing on Sunday.

Vieira, driving the newly acquired car competitively for the first time, clocked a fastest lap time of 01:16.057s, while his main competitor Will Redford out of Europe, driving the AJM’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, had a fastest lap time of 01:16.274s.

Vieira said: “I wasn’t expecting the 16 zero. I was expecting like a 17 two, so I think tomorrow (Sunday) you’re gonna see a lap record time, maybe a 15 one, 15 two.”

Lall said: “The car, believe it or not, is still not 100%. There is still a little bit more that we can fine tune within our own settings internally. The driver as well will get a little more sleep tonight and we will come back stronger tomorrow for sure.”
