Guyana has once again affirmed its status as a regional leader in education, securing the highest overall performance in the Caribbean at both the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) 2025 examinations. The results reflect the resilience, dedication, and academic excellence of Guyanese students and educators.
The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) today announced that two students from Queen’s College, Mahesa Boodhoo and Sara Khan, have been named the Most Outstanding Performers in the Caribbean at CSEC and CAPE respectively. Their exceptional achievements are celebrated as a proud moment for the nation.
In addition, Guyanese students have claimed the top Caribbean awards in three major subject categories, highlighting the country’s strong performance across disciplines:
-
Most Outstanding Performer in Business: Dhanesh Tularam and Saraswati Vidya Niketan
-
Most Outstanding Performer in Humanities: Raquel London, Queen’s College
-
Most Outstanding Performer in Sciences: Samara Munro, Queen’s College
Minister of Education, Hon. Sonia Parag, expressed immense pride in the students’ accomplishments. “Guyana continues to excel on the regional stage because of the resilience, commitment, and excellence of our students and educators,” she said. “Mahesa, Sara, and all of our top performers have upheld the distinguished legacy and high standards of our education system. The Ministry remains firmly focused on expanding opportunities for all learners to succeed.”
The Ministry of Education extended congratulations to the outstanding students and acknowledged the vital contributions of teachers, parents, school administrators, and the wider support network that underpins the nation’s educational success. Additional announcements recognising other outstanding subject performers will be made shortly.
Guyana’s continued achievements at CSEC and CAPE demonstrate not only the talent and discipline of its students but also the dedication of educators nationwide, cementing the country’s reputation as a regional leader in academic excellence.
