Five Guyanese to attend Paintball World Cup in Miami

Through Kendallz Extreme Sports, the sole distributor for everything Paintball in the Caribbean, a five-member Guyana team will leave on Wednesday for the Paintball World Cup in Miami.

The World Cup will feature in excess of 600 teams from over 40 countries, and according to CEO of Kendallz Extreme Sports Kevin Heinz, the Guyanese contingent will embark on a journey to gain exposure and observe best practices at the November 13-17 event.

Kevin Heinz, as Head Coach and Player, will lead the Guyana team that comprises Luke Chanderpaul, Dominic Bowen, Avinash Dhanraj and Aggrey Marsh, as the country makes its first appearance at the global event.

Heinz, via Kendallz Extreme Sports, has been promoting Paintball for the last 13 years, both at the recreational and competitive levels.

According to Kevin Heinz, Guyana is keen on putting structures to the sport to foster its growth

This World Cup in Miami, he pointed out, is more of a fact-finding mission for the Guyanese as efforts continue to elevate the sport in the country by embracing internationally accepted standards, while competing against top ranked nations and players.

“This is also about flying the Golden Arrowhead on that international stage because over the years we have been trying to position Guyana as a sport tourism hub,” Heinz told News Room Sport.

“(Also we’re going to) witness best practices for the Paintball industry at the highest level. We will also be scouting teams to invite them down to Guyana for our flagship tournament, which is the Resilience Inter-Country.”

Attending the World Cup, Heinz further explained, is also a step in the direction of regularising the sport in Guyana by putting structures in place for training and expansion.

The trip to the World Cup has been made possible with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Guyana Tourism Authority and Jamar’s Associates.
