YMCA ‘A’ and Hard-Knocks deliver dominant wins in ExxonMobil Futsal

The ExxonMobil Guyana Futsal Championship resumed at the Retrieve Tarmac in Linden with a flurry of goals, as defending champions YMCA A, Hard-Knocks, and Bombers all secured lopsided victories in the group stage.

The championship, coordinated by New Era Entertainment, featured several dominant individual performances, underscoring the intensity of the competition for the $ 1,500,000 top prize.

YMCA A sent a clear message to their rivals, crushing Figgy FC 9-3. The victory was powered by a hat-trick from Jamal Bentick, with Keyshawn Dey, Jonah Simon, and Jermaine Padmore all netting doubles to secure the champion’s opening win.

In Group A, Hard-knocks were equally clinical, demolishing Hardball Management 8-1. Kendolph Lewis stole the show, recording a remarkable five goals, complemented by a hat-trick from Kwesi Quintin.

Similarly, Bombers secured a massive 8-2 victory over YMCA B, thanks in large part to a six-goal haul from Shamiah Samuels.

The only draw of the night came in a hard-fought Group D battle where Stabroek and Salah Family played to a 4-4 stalemate. Stabroek was led by Bevney Marks, who bagged a hat-trick, while Amoniki Buntin recorded a double for Salah Family.

Meanwhile, Foundation Family impressed in Group C, taking down West Side Ballers 7-2. Malcolm Miggins notched a hat-trick, supported by a double from Shawn Wilson.

The tournament continues today at the same venue, as the 16 teams—divided into four groups—continue to vie for a top-two finish and a spot in the quarter-finals.

The individual stakes remain high, with the Most Valuable Player set to receive a motorcycle, alongside a G$300,000 academic grant available to one candidate.
