Schoolgirl, 16, dies following accident on Number 63 Road

A 16-year-old girl lost her life following an accident on the Number 63 road in Corentyne, Berbice Friday night.

Regional Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus confirmed that the young girl was from Limlair Village in Corentyne, Berbice and was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

Commander Bacchus also mentioned that other victims, including a teacher, are critical and recieving emergency medical care.

According to reports, around 18:00hrs, a teacher was driving a minibus home from a sports event in Corriverton.  The teacher swerved to avoid hitting a horse, but despite his attempts, he ended up colliding with the animal, causing the minibus to topple.

The children who were in the vehicle were rescued and taken to Number 75 Hospital for medical care.
