Fields extends lead in National Rifle Championships

Guyana National Rifle Association Fullbore captain Dylan Fields delivered a calculated performance on the penultimate day of the National Championships at the Timehri Rifle Ranges, doubling his lead going into the grand finale.

Fields, who was also the top shot on the day, now holds a six-point advantage in the highly competitive ‘X’ Class ahead of the final day of competition on November 30.

The second day of action saw several high-quality scores, including three perfect possibles across the three ranges contested (500, 600, and 900 yards).

Fields scored his possible (50.4) at the challenging 900-yard range, matching rival Lennox Braithwaite (50.3) at the same distance. Sherwin Felicien also registered a perfect 50, achieving his possible (50.5) at the 500-yard mark.

Fields’ outstanding day aggregate of 131.7 further cemented his dominance, lifting his overall total to 259.10.

Felicien’s strong showing earned him the second-highest day aggregate (128.8), keeping him in second place overall (253.16), narrowly ahead of Braithwaite (252.11).

The championships conclude this Sunday with three decisive ranges to be contested:

  • 900 yards: (two sighters, seven shots to count)
  • 1000 yards: (two sighters, 10 shots to count)
  • 300 yards: (two sighters, seven shots to count)
