Police have launched a full investigation into a fatal accident on the Speightland Access Road, Mackenzie, Linden, which claimed the life of 53-year-old Cecil Boston of Central Amelia’s Ward.
The accident occurred at around 18:45 hrs on Sunday, 16 November 2025. According to initial reports, a motor car driven by a 28-year-old labourer from the same community was travelling south along the eastern drive lane at what police described as a normal rate of speed. At the time, Boston and his wife were walking one behind the other along the eastern side of the road, heading in the same direction as the vehicle.
Police said the left front portion of the car struck Boston, flinging him onto the windscreen before he fell to the roadway, sustaining multiple injuries. Public-spirited citizens rushed to assist and transported him to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was admitted before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Boston succumbed to his injuries at about 01:05 hrs on Monday, 17 November 2025.
A breathalyser test administered to the driver revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.62 per cent—well above the legal limit. He was immediately taken into custody, and the vehicle has been lodged at the Mackenzie Police Station for further examination.
Police investigations are ongoing.
