Harpy Eagles suffer fourth abandoned match in Super50

Guyana Harpy Eagles’ campaign in the CG United Super50 Cup concluded on Thursday with another no-result, this time against Barbados Pride at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, St. Augustine, Trinidad.

In five games, Harpy Eagles had the misfortune of four no-results because of severe inclement weather in the twin-island republic.

Three of those matches ended without a ball bowled, while the other had just one completed innings.

In addition, Harpy Eagles suffered a six-run defeat to Trinidad and Tobago in their lone completed game, which was also affected by rain, the outcome decided by the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method.

Harpy Eagles finished with nine points, ahead of Leeward Islands Hurricanes and Jamaica Scorpions with eight and six points respectively.

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force and Barbados Pride will clash in Saturday’s final after finishing with 31 points apiece at the top of the table, while Windward Islands Volcanoes had 21 points.

Adding to the woes, opener Raymond Perez had to leave the tournament midway after picking up a right shoulder injury while fielding. He is out of action for at least six weeks.

Guyana last won the Super50 title in 2005.
