The climax of the ExxonMobil Guyana Futsal Championship has been significantly boosted by key corporate partnerships, ensuring the event provides both high-stakes competition and substantial individual rewards for athletes.
Cevon’s Waste Management and Fireside Grill and Chill have both thrown their backing behind the tournament, which culminates in the highly anticipated final between defending champions YMCA and the formidable Silver Bullets at the Retrieve Tarmac on Saturday.
Cevon’s Waste Management has provided the most eye-catching individual incentive: a brand-new motorcycle awarded to the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). The generous donation underscores the growing value placed on athlete performance in the competition.
Andrew Major, Co-Director of New Era Entertainment, the tournament organisers, expressed sincere gratitude for the contribution. He noted that such support “helps elevate the level of competition while rewarding athletes for their commitment and outstanding performances throughout the tournament.”
The individual focus extends beyond the pitch, as a G$300,000 economic grant will also be awarded to a player or fan nominated by their teams to aid their academic development.
Adding to the tournament’s momentum, Fireside Grill and Chill has strengthened its community involvement with a separate contribution, emphasising its commitment to youth development and positive engagement.
Shareef Major, also a Co-Director of New Era Entertainment, highlighted the importance of this local business support. The final fixture, preceded by the third-place playoff between Hard-knocks and DC Ballers, carries significant prize money, with the winner set to pocket G$1,500,000.
