Demerara duo Kaysia Schultz and Letisha Jordon had impactful performances with ball and bat and Sherica Campbell and Sheneta Grimmond were the standouts for Berbice in Round Two of the Guyana Cricket Board/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Senior Women’s Inter-County 50-over competition on Sunday.
At Lusignan, Demerara rebounded from a first round defeat by beating newcomers Hinterland All-Stars by three wickets, while over at LBI, Berbice remained unbeaten with a commanding seven-wicket win over Essequibo.

In a competitive bowling performance, Hinterland All-Stars made Demerara work for every run as they hunted a target of 106. Demerara eventually sealed victory with seven wickets down in 30.2 overs.
Feona Benjamin (3-30) and Grazil Thomas (2-14) were the standout bowlers for Hinterland All-Stars with opener Naomi Barkoye making a top score of 20 for Demerara.

Earlier, skipper and left-arm spinner Kaysia Schultz and off-spinner Letisha Jordon were the bowling spearheads for Demerara, claiming a combined nine wickets.
Player-of-the-Match Schultz claimed 5-16 off 10 overs, two of which were maidens, while Jordon bagged 4-39, her second four-wicket haul in as many games.
Sarah Bheir, batting at number three, made a match-high 34 off 76 balls (3x4s) in Hinterland All-Stars’ 105 all out from 28 overs.

The game started at 14:00h due to overnight and early morning showers, and was reduced to a 23-over affair. Essequibo, sent in to bat, made 70 all out from 21 overs with Extras accounting for 28 runs.

Player-of-the-Match Sherica Campbell picked up 4-17 and Daniella Manns 3-15. Berbice then coasted to victory at 71-3 in just 13 overs with skipper Sheneta Grimmond playing some sweetly timed shots in a fluent 38 not out off 41 balls (5x4s).
Analesia D’Aguiar, Tremaine Marks and Kumarie Persaud picked up a wicket each for the Essequibians, who now have a win and a defeat and are in second spot on the table.
