A 25-year-old construction worker was reportedly assaulted on Sunday evening after a collision on Fisher Dam Access Road, Zeelugt.
According to initial police investigations, the incident occurred around 20:00hrs when the construction worker, travelling on an electric motorcycle, collided with a 32-year-old male pandit who was standing on the roadway during a local gathering in Zeelugt Housing Scheme.
Following the collision, the pandit allegedly assaulted the rider, causing injuries to his face and body. The injured man was treated at the De Kinderen Regional Hospital and later discharged.
The 32-year-old pandit was subsequently arrested and is in police custody as investigations continue.
Police have stated that inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident
