Tragic loss for Courtland community as young man dies in motorcycle accident

A young man from Courtland, Berbice, lost his life in a motorcycle accident close to his home on Sunday.

The man, 28-year-old Travis Joseph, resided at Lot 19 in Courtland Village and worked as a Line Technician for Guyana Power and Light (GPL) in Region Six.

His brother, Troy Joseph,  told the News Room that sometime after 16:00 hrs, Travis was riding his motorcycle on his way home when the accident took place.

Troy said he received various accounts regarding the circumstances of the crash, including that a vehicle was involved in the accident and that the vehicle drove over Travis, causing him to receive several injuries.

Travis was picked up and taken to Port Mourant Public Hospital, then moved to New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he unfortunately passed away due to his injuries.

Family, friends, and community members are still reeling from the shock of Travis’s tragic death.

Troy is urging the police to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the accident to find out exactly what occurred.

“I want the police to investigate the matter, let me get some justice for me brother,” Troy stated.

Travis was remembered as a well-liked, kind, and friendly person.
