AK-47, other guns & ammo found after Sheriff Street operation 

An AK-47 rifle, a Glock 17 pistol, a Taurus pistol, and rounds of ammunition were found in the vicinity of Sheriff Street following an operation undertaken by Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers.

In a release, CANU said the operation was undertaken on Sunday. A suspect was intercepted, and a subsequent search of the individual led to the discovery of:

  • An AK-47 rifle bearing serial number A1-72720-20 ROA, and one magazine containing 19 7.62×39mm live rounds;
  • One Glock 17 pistol bearing serial number LVH237 with one magazine containing seven 9mm live rounds;
  • One Taurus pistol bearing serial number AHD901601 with one  magazine and no ammunition

“The suspect was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with the firearms and ammunition. Following a preliminary investigation, it was noted that the suspect was the holder of a firearm licence for the recovered Glock 17 pistol,” CANU added.

Investigations are ongoing.
