Police searching for driver involved in fatal Cemetery Road accident 

A resident of Roxanne Burnham Gardens died on Monday after being involved in a hit-and-run accident along Cemetery Road, Georgetown.

Dead is 59-year-old Trevon Bacchus.

Based on a release from Police Headquarters, Bacchus was riding an electric cycle at about 00:30 hrs when a Toyota Rumion (PAB 6212), driven by a still unidentified man, collided with him.

“Preliminary investigations disclosed that motor car PAB 6212 was proceeding north along the western drive lane of Cemetery Road, Georgetown at an alleged fast rate of speed when the electric cyclist, who was proceeding north along the extreme western edge of the said road, was struck from the rear after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

“The driver continued further north then headed west onto Princess Street without stopping. The driver is currently at large and efforts are being made to locate and apprehend him,” Police said in the release.

Additionally, it was noted that Bacchuse received injuries to his head and about his body. As such, he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The body was later escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police said CCTV footage is being reviewed as investigations continue.
