Nicholas Fredericks, a 25-year-old gold miner of Wakapau, Lower Pomeroon River, was found dead on Monday with multiple stab wounds.
The man was found dead sometime after he was involved in an altercation at an event in his community. An 18-year-old gold miner has been arrested and is in custody, assisting with the investigations.
Police Headquarters, in a release, said the altercation occurred around 02:30 hrs. After he was found dead, Fredericks was taken to the Wakapau Health Centre; there he was pronounced dead.
Investigations are ongoing.
