The third edition of the President’s National Futsal Championship, coordinated by the Kashif and Shangai Organisation, has received a significant boost as two long-standing corporate giants, Queensway Group of Companies and Bakewell, confirmed their support ahead of Friday’s grand finale.
With the championship matches scheduled for January 2, 2026, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, the contributions were officially handed over to the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, marking a continued commitment to the development of indoor football in Guyana.
Mohamed Hussein, Manager of the Queensway Group of Companies (QGoC), highlighted the inclusion of the schoolboys’ segment in this year’s championship as a pivotal move for the sport.
“We are pleased to play a part in this historic championship, especially with the introduction of the schoolboys’ tournament for the first time,” Hussein noted. “Young players are the bedrock of the game. Laying a solid foundation for futsal now will ensure Guyana can make waves at the regional and international levels in the future.”
Bakewell, a brand synonymous with sports sponsorship in Guyana for decades, reaffirmed its partnership through General Manager Shannan Ganga.
The collaboration continues a legacy started by the company’s late founder, Naeem Naseer.
“Our partnership with Kashif & Shanghai is a pivotal part of football development here,” Ganga stated during the presentation.
“This relationship dates back decades. We view these collaborations as part of our social responsibility, and we have seen first-hand the positive impact they have on our athletes and the nation.”
Co-Directors Kashif Muhammad and Aubrey Major expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support, noting that corporate backing is essential for maintaining the high standards of the President’s Futsal Championship.
The tournament will reach its climax this Friday, featuring the highly anticipated finals of both the senior and schoolboys’ divisions.
