Floodwaters receding in Black Bush Polder – Region Six Chairman

The floodwaters in Black Bush Polder are receding after days of rainfall left the community inundated affecting residential and farmlands.

In response to the flooding, Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, travelled to the region to assess the situation on Sunday last.

Following his visit, he held a meeting with local representatives and subsequently addressed the media, outlining several plans to mitigate the flood effects.

During an interview with the News Room on Wednesday, the Regional Chairman revealed that floodwaters have begun to recede after all interventions proposed by Minister Mustapha were fully implemented.

“We have seven pumps operating at Number 43, Eversham, and Adventure draining the lands, taking the water out into the sea. Those plans are active. All the pumps are functional. All the kokers are functional as well,” he affirmed.
