Slingerz Racing Stable has commenced the 2026 season in spectacular fashion, securing a high-profile victory in the Grand Prix City Hall of Rio de Janeiro (G3) at the Gávea Hippodrome on Monday night.
Fielding two runners in the 1,900-metre contest, the Guyanese-owned stable secured a 1-4 finish, with stable star L’ente Supremo taking the top prize and Olympic National finishing a strong fourth in a competitive international field.
The victory was spearheaded by a tactical masterclass from world-renowned jockey João Moreira. Partnering with the six-year-old L’ente Supremo, Moreira utilised his trademark composure to navigate the deep 1,900m turf course.
Positioned strategically behind the leaders for the majority of the trip, L’ente Supremo responded emphatically to Moreira’s cues as they turned for home.
The horse powered clear in the final furlong to stop the clock in 2:00.68, securing a convincing win and the R$71,808.00 (approx. $13,000 USD) winner’s purse.
Prepared at the Vale da Boa Esperança Training Center by Lênio Roberto Vieira, L’ente Supremo is a son of Emcee out of the Put It Back mare Rubia Del Rio. Bred by Haras Santa Maria de Araras, the horse has now established himself as a dominant force in Brazilian classic company.
Monday’s victory marks the fifth career win for L’ente Supremo and his fourth at the Group level.
His resume now includes:
- GP City Hall of Rio de Janeiro (G3) – 2026 Winner
- GP Professor Nova Monteiro (G3) – Two-time Winner
- GP Salgado Filho (G3) – Winner
- Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) – 4th Place (2024, Peru)
The night was further bolstered by Olympic National, who, under jockey Leandro Henrique, finished a creditable fourth. The performance reinforces the depth of the Slingerz roster as they expand their footprint in Brazil.
Stable owner Javed Ali expressed immense pride in the result, noting that the win validates the stable’s long-term investment in South American racing. “Performances like these delivered by L’ente Supremo and Olympic National reaffirm our broader ambitions as we continue to make steady inroads across Brazil and South America,” Ali stated.
