Police on Wednesday conducted a major eradication operation at Wel te Vreeden, Canje Creek, Berbice seizing and destroying close to $1 million worth of cannabis plants.
The exercise was carried out between 04:00 hrs and 12:30 hrs.
According to Police Headquarters, the team of ranks first discovered a plot of land measuring approximately one acre.
On the site, approximately 950 cannabis plants, ranging in height from two to five feet, were located alongside a makeshift camp.
The estimated value of the cannabis plants destroyed $965,580.
Police said the plants and camp were destroyed by fire. No arrests were made.
Investigations are ongoing.
