The Ministry of Housing will launch a new online portal in approximately two weeks for residents of Region Four who applied for housing in 2021 and earlier. This was revealed by Housing Minister Collin Croal on Thursday.
“In two weeks’ time we will launch the portal. We are moving the target in Region Four starting with 2021 [applications] and prior,” Croal disclosed while speaking at the launch of the Hyde Park Homestead project.
Croal said the portal will help the ministry keep accurate records and speed up processing for applicants in Region Four.
Among other things, applicants will also be able to update their phone numbers or addresses if they were changed since their original application was submitted through the portal.
In September 2025, the minister revealed that the government has exhausted available land for housing schemes along the East Coast and East Bank of Demerara, prompting a strategic shift of new developments to the Soesdyke-Linden Highway. Region Four, which records the highest number of pending housing applications, has been the primary focus of the administration’s housing programme.
