Elections 2025: PPP dominates Region Six with over 41,000 votes

The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has secured a win in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), capturing the majority of votes in Monday’s General and Regional Elections.

Based on the official declaration (general results) seen by the News Room, the ruling party gained 41,320 votes, making Region Six the fourth region declared in its favour.

Trailing behind is the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) with 12,623 votes, followed by A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) with 6,223, the Alliance For Change (AFC) with 315, and the Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity, led by Simona Broomes, with 132 votes.

In total, 60,974 valid votes were cast in the region.

So far, declarations have been completed in six of the 10 electoral regions.

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has also uploaded most of the Statements of Poll (SOPs) to its website, except for a few still outstanding in Region Seven.

As the nation awaits the official final results, projections indicate that the PPP/C, led by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, is on track to secure overall victory in the September 1 polls.
